The Great Library Book Adventure with Ricky Roo & Friends

When the mischievous pirate Captain Bluebeard sneaks into the library and steals a book to take back to his island, the whole library is in trouble! Luckily, a brave child from the audience steps up to the challenge. Together with Ricky Roo and his puppet friends, they set off on a silly adventure to get the book back and teach the pirate an important lesson: library books are meant to be shared—checked out, enjoyed, and returned—for the whole community. A laugh-out-loud puppet show filled with jokes, audience participation, and a heartwarming message about books, libraries, and community. Perfect for young readers and future library lovers! This program will replace our regular Storytime.
Little Artisans (2-5 years old)

Join us for this hands-on program where we will use colored clay on placemats to create different shapes and numbers! Older children can practice their clock reading skills by utilizing a clock placemat! Caregivers will be helping their child mold clay into shapes on the placemat! Everyone Can Create: Beginning Stop Motion Animation

Wanna try your hand at making a movie? What better way to begin than by creating your own folded paper art and using it to make an original animation? This workshop will cover the basics of stop motion animation with the app Stop Motion Studio. Students will make short films as they learn to fold origami objects. Participants will have an opportunity to showcase their work at the end of the session.This workshop is best for children and teens ages 8-15. Reading Buddies provides students in grades K–5 with the opportunity to strengthen their reading skills by working one-on-one with a friendly reading coach. This program creates a positive and supportive reading experience for beginning and developing readers, helping children build confidence and fluency. Our reading coach listens as children read, offering encouragement and support in phonics, sight words, and comprehension. Students may bring a favorite book from home or select one from the library’s collection to read aloud. Reading sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The length of each session may be limited depending on the number of participating students and/or available volunteers. This event series takes place in Group Study Room A. Free. Student-Led Chess Class for Kids

Enroll your child in a week-long chess class! This introductory chess class provides a structured, immersive experience designed to take beginners from knowing basic piece movements to playing full, strategic games. Through daily 2-hour sessions, students build a strong foundation in tactics, board vision, and sportsmanship. Your child will have receive a workbook they will complete through the series of classes. By the end of the week, they will be ready to play chess! This class will take place every afternoon from 3:00-5:00PM on Monday, August 3rd through Thursday, August 6th. When you sign up your child, you are committing to the class for the week. For the kids who attend Monday through Thursday, will be invited to participate in a Chess Tournament on Friday, August 7th from 2:30-5:30 PM. This program is for kids 6-14 only. All supplies will be provided. Registration is required. This program is an approved Passion Project Proposal and will be led by Morgan Hill high school student, Sharanya Chudgar, volunteering to share their passion with the community! Readers may register for 1 session per month.Practice your reading skills by reading aloud one-on-one with a friendly dog! Each 15-minute session is with a trained dog and their volunteer. Bring a book from home or borrow one from the library.
