The Crossover: How Everyday Transportation Interacts with Engineering
Happy New Year, and welcome back to GEMS science workshops with The Crossover! We’ll be opening up 2026 with an engineering-based lab exploring the physics and popular structural types behind bridges. Participants will have the opportunity to build miniature models of two widely-used bridge types: the suspension bridge and the straw-truss bridge. Students will also compare the structural integrity between numerous simple structure bridges through paper modeling. Join us this January to close that knowledge gap! Free. No registration required. Recommended for elementary school students with adult supervision. Presented by teen volunteers in Girls Empowered in Math and Science (GEMS). ADA Accommodation Requests
