Summer Music in the Courtyard: Brass Over Bridges
Based in San Francisco, Brass Over Bridges is an ensemble built on the belief that music is all about connection. Inspired by the cultural diversity of the Bay Area, the quintet seeks to engage audiences by bridging barriers of style and artistic discipline. The group cares deeply about expanding the standard brass repertoire to be more representative of the modern cultural landscape, frequently commissioning new works by diverse composers such as Julie Barwick, Kevin Day, Lillian Yee, and Hitomi Oba. A highlight of their recent work includes the 2023 premiere of Stefan Cwik’s Transfigurations, an ambitious interdisciplinary piece for brass quintet and orchestra that incorporates animated artwork. Summer Music in the Courtyard Join us this summer for our 4th annual Summer Music in the Courtyard series, a weekly all-ages event featuring a vibrant mix of live music every Sunday afternoon. Set in Cupertino Library's welcoming outdoor courtyard, each week showcases a different genre from jazz and folk to classical guitar, and world music. There is music for everyone to enjoy. Bring your friends, family, or just yourself for a relaxing afternoon of great tunes and community spirit under the summer sky. Don’t forget your hat and sunscreen! Summer Music in the Courtyard is sponsored by the Cupertino Library Foundation.
