STEM Beyond Boundaries: DNA and Genetics (Ages 8-13)

DNA makes up every living organism; It exists in you, me, bananas, bacteria, and viruses! DNA determines physical characteristics, food tastes, and even parts of our personality. Each and every one of us have enough DNA to reach the sun and back over 600 times! In this interactive seminar, we will extract and observe DNA from strawberries, analyze the mutation of a fake zombie virus, and draw our own mutated monsters! Come join us in the Technology Lab on the 2nd floor. Kids and tweens ages 8-13 are welcome! This intellectually stimulating science class is led by STEM Beyond Boundaries , an organization comprised of driven high school students who work to provide hands-on STEM activities, resources, and mentorship to communities. Their goal is to spark curiosity, confidence, and innovation in young learners and to make STEM education accessible to all children, regardless of background.
