Step into the circle and feel the beat in Mister Boom Boom’s African Drum Circle, an immersive, hands-on musical journey that brings the power and spirit of African drumming to life, while connecting its influence to rhythms and instruments from around the world. This high-energy program centers around the djembe, the heart of West African rhythm, and expands to include a dynamic collection of global percussion instruments that trace their roots back to African traditions. Children will explore instruments such as: Congas and bongos from the Caribbean and Latin America Djembe, shekeres and talking drums from West Africa Cajóns from Peru Claves and cowbells from Cuba Through drumming, singing, call-and-response, and movement, participants not only make music together but also discover the global journey of African culture—how the rhythms carried by enslaved Africans shaped music in the Americas, the Caribbean, and beyond. This program is part of the Santa Clara County Library District's Black History Month. For accessibility accommodations (ex.
