The Mini Mural Art Workshop is an engaging, hands-on experience that blends community storytelling, visual arts, and cultural history. Participants will learn about its roots in Chicano identity, automotive customization, and the visual language of pride, resistance, and creativity. Created and led by acclaimed artist and author Ricardo Cortez, this workshop invites participants to explore the rich and vibrant world of lowrider culture through the lens of art, education, and personal creativity.Following the presentation, each participant receives a curated packet of over 100 printed images—including archival photos, vintage lowrider spreads, typography, and design elements reminiscent of early Lowrider Magazine. Participants cut, collage, and assemble their own original artwork, drawing on principles of printmaking and layout design that echo the DIY ethos of early lowrider publishing. Each participant frames their finished piece to take home—creating not only a keepsake but a deeper connection to the history and legacy of lowrider art.
