Join us for Cunamacué: Family Dance Class!  This intergenerational dance class is an introduction to Afro-Peruvian culture and includes Creative Dance and Afro-Peruvian dance concepts. Class is geared for kids up to 6 years old and their adults. This interactive experience encourages family bonding while exploring cultural traditions through movement and music, making it a fun and educational activity for children and their caregivers. Cunamacué was founded in 2010 in Oakland, California by Carmen Román — dancer, choreographer, filmmaker, and educator –– born in Lima, Peru, with the purpose of bringing visibility to the presence and cultural knowledge of the African descendant population in Peru. Cunamacué brings awareness of Peru’s African descendants by sharing their deep cultural history through music and dance. This program is in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, and offered in-lieu of our regularly scheduled Family Storytime; Stay & Play toys will be available after the Family Dance Class concludes. Free, with limited capacity.ADA Accommodation Requests
