Drop in on Tuesday afternoons in at 4:30 p.m. for a new STEaM adventure every week. Active engagement with STEaM promotes academic success.  Topic list is subject to change, please check back or call the branch for up-to-date details. Suggested ages vary, please refer to individual program descriptions. Free, with limited capacity. Tickets will be distributed starting 60 minutes before the program. Aug 18 - The Science of Soap: Floating Drawing & Pepper ExperimentParticipants will learn about the properties of soap, how it cleans and why that's important by creating their own floating drawings and playing with adhesion and repulsion properties of pepper and soap. Aug 25 - Mental Math: MultiplicationChildren have the opportunity to learn and practice multiplication skills with a focus on understanding how multiplication works and is related to addition. Sept 1 - Marble Run FunHarness the force of gravity as you create your own marble run. Sept 8 - VolcanoesLearn about the different types of volcanoes and create your own eruption with common household ingredients. Sept 15 - Squishy CircuitsLearn about conductor and insulators as you create playdoh creations that light up. Sept 22 - Mental Math: Doubling DownLearn some methods of doubling numbers and how that relates to multiplication skills. Oct 6 - Wind Turbine EngineeringIn this hands-on workshop, participants will build their own working wind turbines using everyday household items. Through fun, interactive experiments, they will test different designs and observe the impact of tweakable variables on performance. Lesson by Nurturing Young Mindz Foundation. Oct 13 - (tentative) Paper RocketsLearn what makes rockets fly high and far! Then join us in making a rocket of your own that can fly the furthest! Participants will learn about propulsion and list then create their own rockets. Oct 20 - Properties of Water (Science from Scientists)Participants will explore cohesion, adhesion and surface tension through a series of simple activities that encourage them to investigate and make observations about the unique properties of water. Oct 27 - Mental Math:Triples Nov 3 - Learn About Aerodynamics Through Paper PlanesIn this high-flying workshop, participants will build different types of paper planes and learn concepts of aerodynamics and impact of plane design through fun and interactive experiments. Lesson by Nurturing Young Mindz Foundation. Nov 10 - Ozobot Maze RunnerTeach your Ozobot to navigate a maze using simple color codes. Nov 17 - Logic GamesWork individually or in teams to solve a variety of logic puzzles. Nov 24 - Mental Math Dec 1 - Let's Build ParachutesIn this workshop, participants will build parachutes of different shapes, sizes and material, and observe the impact of their design. They will participate in fun parachute drops with different loads while learning the science behind parachute design. Lesson by Nurturing Young Mindz Foundation. Dec 8 - Lego Engineering ChallengeIn this workshop, children will be encouraged to build and solve problems. Children will learn to brainstorm and build with Lego® bricks, and then to redesign and build as they face challenges. For children ages 5 and up. Free, with limited capacity.
