Enhance your child’s communication with “Storytime with AAC”! This program is designed for children with disabilities who use, or would benefit from, means of communication other than their voice. They use AAC devices, iPads, pictures, pointing, or exchanging pictures to communicate. It is designed for emergent communicators five years old and up (emergent communicators are new/existing AAC users who typically communicate with single words). Open to children of all abilities! A parent/caregiver must accompany the child for all the sessions. Due to limited seating, we request that only 1 caregiver per child attend. *This program is conducted in collaboration with Something To Say and with support from students in the Speech Language Pathology Program at San José State University.This program is developed to align with the Early Education Quality Standards.ADA Accommodation Requests

Volunteer Away Your Fines as a Branch Buddy

Every now and then, libraries need a little extra love from the communities they serve. Volunteer away your fines at a rate of $20 per hour while helping the library maintain a clean and welcoming environment. Volunteers are needed to help with: Book cover cleaning - Use disinfecting wipes to reinvigorate dingy booksChildren’s toys cleanup - Use disinfecting wipes to disinfect children’s toysMaterial inspection - Check books for torn pages, pen marks, etc.Tabletop/windows/grounds cleanup - Help reinvigorate our branch by wiping down tabletops, cleaning dusty windows, and picking up litter and sweeping outside the library. Community Conversation and Weaving Workshop

Join artist Pilar Agüero-Esparza to help transform the César Chávez panel from her mural La Vida en Los Dichos. The day opens with a sensitively guided conversation about Chávez’s complex legacy. Then followed by a drop-in weaving workshop where community members weave new meaning into the original canvas. This is a project of transformation, not erasure: a chance to gather toward healing. All are welcome — no experience needed. The conversation will take place in English, with some support in Spanish. The workshop will be conducted in English and Spanish. This is a free event. Learning Chinese language and Culture For Kids Ages 8-13 years old

Join us for an interactive program designed to help participants learn basic Chinese language skills and develop an appreciation for Chinese culture through fun and engaging activities. All materials will be provided. This program focuses on traditional Chinese. The program runs for 8 weeks, meeting twice per week, with 1‑hour sessions. This is a free program for Children ages 8 to 13 years old. Space is limited to 20 people, and REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED for each session.
