Storytime includes a variety of early literacy activities such as stories, songs, rhymes, and movement activities. Storytime is a fun and interactive experience for the whole family that promotes the joys of reading and learning for all ages. This program is targeted to children under the age of two and their caregivers.

Happy Baby Signs Storytime

Children, parents, and caregivers will have a blast laughing, signing, and singing with Teacher Bill, author of the book Signs of A Happy Baby. Bill integrates American Sign Language (ASL) into his songs and storytime. In addition to introducing you to basic baby signs, you’ll have fun learning how to sign popular books like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See, and Goodnight Moon. For parents and caregivers with children up to 5 years old.

Toddler Time: Plant a Seed

Join us for a community playdate for you and your little one! Toddlers and their caregivers can drop in for a free-play environment based around sensory exploration or simple arts and crafts. Come meet other caregivers while your small kids have the chance to play together with their grown-ups and fellow kids! This time, we’ll be planting seeds into to-go cups for you to grow by a windowsill or plant in your garden! This program is best suited for children ages 18 months to 3 years. School-Age STEM Days with Astro Everywhere

Drop in for a different activity each week. This week, Astro Everywhere presents an interactive astronomy show, and demonstration with solar telescopes. This program is for grades 1 to 5 and their caregivers. For the best experience, please arrive on time. This program will be in the Library Program Room. No registration is required, but space is limited. Doors will close when the room is full. This program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library. This program is a part of the 2026 Summer Reading Program Unearth a Story. Sign up starting June 1 on Beanstack. Join us for an engaging puppet show by Puppet Arts Theater Co.! Steeped in humor, charm, clever plots and audience engagement, Puppet Arts Theater Co.’s shows are a hit with young audiences. This particular show is a spin on the classic tale, Little Red Riding Hood . A nutty version of the classic fairy tale done Puppet Art Theater style, perfect for school assemblies! Little Red and her dog Fifi are taking pepperoni pizza to Grandma’s when they run into the wolf. Wolf loves pizza and plots to get Red’s. Join Little Red, Fifi, and Grandma as they try to keep the wolf from eating them and their pepperoni pizza. Crafternoon: Perler Bead Party!

Gear Up! Designing for a Purpose

Description Join us for a hands-on exploration of robotics and the design thinking process! Participants will practice hands-on engineering skills using the Hummingbird Bit Kit , and work towards a cumulative project over the course of this one-week summer workshop. Students will learn how to block code, use sensors, and combine design thinking with technical skills. Walk away with a newfound excitement for engineering! Program hosted by members of Gatorbotics, Castilleja High School ‘s competitive FRC team. Recommended for ages 7-11.
Cookbook Club

June’s theme is “plants”! Each month we have a theme that you are free to interpret however you’d like. Choose a recipe to make from one of the many cookbooks or other resources in our collection- don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of suggestions for you! Then we’ll meet to talk about books and cooking and enjoy each other’s company. Photos of your finished dish are encouraged but not required. In celebration of this year’s Summer Reading theme, Plant a Seed , Read we’ll be cooking (or baking, or assembling) with plants! You can use herbs to brighten up the flavors of a dish, make a salad or vegetable main, or use a plant like ube or pandan in a dessert- there are really so many options. And don’t forget to sign up for Summer Reading for your chance to win fun prizes all summer long! Browse our incredible cookbook collection in the Library or our ebooks on CloudLibrary , find something that looks interesting to you, and cook!
