Join us for songs and bounces just right for babies 0 to 12 months. After storytime, stay for playtime. This program is for babies 0 to 12 months and their caregivers. No older siblings please. This program will be in the Library Program Room. No registration required, but space is limited. Doors will close when the room is full. Their program introduces the audience to the fascinating world of reptiles with an emphasis on education. His animals have been held by thousands of people and are extremely docile. Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies provides students in grades K-3 with an opportunity to improve their reading skills by working one-on-one with a volunteer. Reading Buddies creates a positive reading experience for beginning and developing readers and helps children build confidence as readers. Our volunteers will listen to children read and provide support in phonics, sight words, and comprehension. Students can bring their favorite book or choose from the available selection at the West Valley Branch Library.Free. Pre-registration not required. Volunteer Away Your Fines

Every now and then, libraries need a little extra love from the communities they serve. You can volunteer away your library fines at a rate of $20 per hour while helping the library maintain a clean and welcoming environment. Volunteers will be responsible for: Book cover cleaning – Use disinfecting wipes to reinvigorate dingy books.Bookshelves – Dust shelves and organize library materials.Deep cleaning computers – Use disinfecting wipes to disinfect computer mice and mouse pads and compressed air to remove any dust particles or debris.Material inspection – Check books for torn pages, pen marks, etc. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in volunteering away their library fines. This program is for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade that need support as they work on their homework. Registration is preferred; walk-ins accepted until 4:15pm if there are seats available. Need help with your homework? Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade can meet with a Homework Coach in the Children’s Room on Thursdays from 4pm - 5:30pm to get homework support. Students must have homework to work on to participate in a session. Free, with limited capacity. Register to guarantee a spot; we will accept walk-ins until 4:15pm if space is available. Afterschool Reading Club

Do you need a little help with your reading goals? Stop by the library for Afterschool Reading Club! K-8th grade students can practice reading in a supportive environment. Bring your reading homework and drop-in to read at your own pace with active support from our trained interns. Trained interns will be available to help students stay focused, pick new books to read, and help locate grade-appropriate reading resources.
