Bike Repair / Reparación de Bicicletas

Community cycles will be offering free bicycle repair at the Gilroy Library! Arrive early! Service is provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and space is limited.Our basic repair ensures that each bike has at least one working brake and gear and flat tire repair. We do not offer complete bike rebuilds or work on accessories such as kickstands and racks. At Community Cycles, we believe that keeping a bike safe and reliable is just as important as providing access to one. Baby Bounce Storytime

Join Librarian Sara for a Baby Bounce Storytime specially designed for our tiniest library friends and their caregivers. Each week, we will explore the magic of stories, songs, and movement in a welcoming space that encourages bonding and fun. This is the perfect place to meet other families, build early learning skills, and make memories with your little one. Baby Bounce is about 20 minutes followed by Stay & Play time. Caregivers are welcome to bring a blanket for their babies to lay on. This program is appropriate for infants and pre-walking babies, ages 0-12 months. Sensory Storytime

Sensory Storytime is a fun interactive and inclusive literacy program. It engages children through movement, music, active stories, sensory materials and visual schedules. This program is for children with sensory challenges or difficulty being in large groups. It is limited to 12 participants and their caregivers. This program is for ages 3 to 6. Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies provides students in grades TK-5 with an opportunity to improve their reading skills by working one-on-one with a reading coach. Reading Buddies creates a positive reading experience for beginning and developing readers and helps children build confidence as readers. Our reading coach will listen to children read and provide support in phonics, sight words, and comprehension. Students can bring their favorite book or choose from the available selection at the Mt. Pleasant Branch. Free. Pre-registration not required. Furry Reading Buddies for Grades K-5

Buddy up with a furry friend and read aloud from your favorite book! Practice your reading skills and build up your self-confidence reading to a patient and furry listener (fully trained therapy dog). This program is for children who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade. Parents are asked to remain in the room during the 10-minute reading session. Children must register for this program in-person at the Children’s Reference Desk, and may register for one reading session each month. Learn to design in Tinkercad and see your creation come to life with our 3D printer! Each class introduces a new technique in Tinkercad or other 3D design tools. Participants will have the opportunity to create a project which will be printed out for pick up later. Appropriate for ages 10+ and older. Everyone Can Code: Sphero Obstacle Course

Learn the basics of Sphero. Guide your spherical-robot through a series of obstacles across the library. Learn to roll, aim, control the LEDs, change heading, and detect collisions.
