Fabric Printing Ancient Adinkra Symbols from West Africa
Time: 4:00 PM | Location: Atherton - Makerspace
Utilizing ancient Adinkra symbols, participants create and print their own fabric designs in what artist Asual Aswad calls “Talking Cloths”. By means of at least six stamp symbols and colors of their own choosing, students employ a layered technique to transform a blank piece of fabric into an original work of art they can be proud of. Participants learn about the concepts of color, design, symmetry, pattern, and balance and how to use this knowledge to create a successful work of art. Water based, non-toxic acrylic paint is used with the fabric painting.This program is intended for youth ages 18 and under.
Dancheong Sun-Catcher Craft

Participants create their own sun catchers by coloring traditional Korean dancheong patterns onto translucent discs. As the finished pieces catch the light, they reflect the vibrant colors and symbolic motifs found in Korean architecture, celebrating harmony, cultural identity, and a shared sense of belonging.Registration is not required. Time: 6:30 PM | Location: Milpitas Library - Activity Room
Come play chess and make new friends in a fun and relaxed environment! This program is for children from grades K-8. Registration is not required but space is limited. This program is not a class. Attendees are expected to know the rules of chess and must be able to play independently. Parents and younger siblings will be asked to wait outside the room to ensure suitable space for all attendees. For accessibility accommodations (ex. Bedtime Storytime
Time: 7:00 PM | Location: Cupertino Library
Join us for evening Family Storytime in our program room! This storytime series is suitable for all ages and will feature stories, songs, rhymes and dances, all to encourage the development of crucial early literacy skills. Parents and children will listen together, learn together, and sing together. Storytime is limited to the first 100 families, with a maximum of 2 adults per family group. Please bring a yoga mat or blanket to sit on.
