Weekend Baby Lap-Sit Storytime (Age 0-1)

Join us for Baby Lap-Sit Storytime at the Library! Baby storytime is the perfect way to learn about early literacy with your non-walking baby. Join us in a friendly circle as we read board books together and sing fun songs to engage your non-walking children. Baby Storytime will take place in the Children’s Room before our Library opens - please note that you will need to enter through the Garden Gate on the very right side of the building, instead of entering through our main entrance doors. Tai Chi with Nelson Ng

Description Join us for a weekly Tai Chi session with Nelson Ng! In this weekly class, participants will learn the basic principles and the philosophy behind Tai Chi, gaining flexibility and a better sense of balance, through slow and gentle movement. Nelson started learning Chen’s Tai Chi in 1989 from Master Gene Chen, who was a disciple of Grandmaster of Feng ZhiQiang. Nelson has been teaching since 2014. This class is free and open to beginners as well as those who have previous Tai Chi experience. People of all ages are welcome. You must sign in upon arrival.

Hi friends! Join us for our cozy Winter Wonderland Words, a special storytime filled with stories, songs, and fingerplays that spark giggles, wiggles, and wonder! Perfect for children 0-5 and families. This fun and engaging storytime supports early literacy through music, movement, and interactive play. Every rhyme, song, and story helps build the skills kids need to become confident readers. Come to Winter Wonderland Words, where the love of reading begins! No sign-up, just show up! We will have storytime on the backyard patio of Woodland Library. Dress for weather! If it is too cold or wet, we will move inside. For accessibility accommodations (ex. It’s Sew Easy: Gift Bags

Fratello Marionettes: The North Pole Review (In-Person)

Fratello Marionettes’ winter extravaganza, “The North Pole Review,” is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. This music-based production showcases our graceful ice skater Crystal Chandelier, the high-kicking antics of the Russian Trepak Dancers, and a trio of dazzling acrobatic penguins. (Virtual) Chess Club

Are you interested in playing and learning chess? If so, sign up to attend this fun virtual Chess Club hosted by Seven Trees Branch Library! You will be paired up with other kids to play real chess games using virtual chess boards online. Our volunteers are also very knowledgeable and can teach you several strategies and tips, through fun activities and interactive games. The games will be played online using a safe platform. You are encouraged to sign up for a free account at lichess.org, so you can join our online club to play games with us! Chess Club takes place weekly, and you are free to play every week, or drop in and out if you like. You only need to register once and you’ll be added to our roster. Age: 5-12 years old (Elementary to Middle School). Date: Every Sunday from 1:00pm - 2:30pm. Registration: Please register on this page to attend the weekly sessions (an email address is required). The Zoom link and password will be emailed before class each week. Software: No software is required to download, but you must have a computer with Internet and a web browser to access the lichess.org website. This program will be held online via Zoom. Math Club

Improve your math skills and apply them through fun math-related activities! Participants will focus on a variety of math concepts and do hands-on math activities in this weekly drop-in program. For children in grades 3-5 only. Registration not required. Instruction on the week’s concept will occur during the first 15-20 minutes, so please arrive on time. Punch Needle Embroidery | Bordado de Piquete

This program is for ages 12+. This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the art of punch needle embroidery a traditional Mexican textile technique. Participants will learn about the history and artistry behind these crafts while practicing foundational techniques to create their own piece. STEMladder Sessions: Explore Geology

This program is best for students in grades 3-5. Registration recommended to guarantee a spot, but walk-ins welcome if we have enough materials.In this session, we will have an introduction to geology, and learn hands-on with a “lava lamp” experiment. STEMLadder is a volunteer- and student-led initiative providing hands-on insight into STEM fields to students looking to expand their interest in different STEM subjects. Each session will include an interactive lesson presented by well-versed student volunteer tutors and be accompanied by an immersive activity or experiment. By inspiring creativity and problem solving through the application of learned ideas, we aim to provide a memorable lesson of each core concept with thoughtful takeaways. Free, with limited capacity. Reading Buddies with Teens Reach

Reading Buddies provides students in grades K-3 with an opportunity to improve their reading skills by working one-on-one with a volunteer from Cambrian Branch Library’s Teens Reach. Reading Buddies creates a positive reading experience for beginning and developing readers and helps children build confidence as readers. Our volunteers will listen to children read and provide support in phonics, sight words, and comprehension. Students can bring their favorite book or choose from the available selection at the Cambrian Branch Library.Free. Pre-registration not required.
