Infant Toddler Storytime invites children and their caregivers to wiggle, rhyme, and sing with diverse books, songs, and fingerplays that encourage language, play, and exploration. Reading to Children in Japanese にほんご おはなし会

Preschool age children and their parents/caregivers are invited to the West Valley Branch Library for Reading to Children in Japanese. Every Thursday at 11:00 AM, children will enjoy early literacy activities such as stories, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and movement activities all in the Japanese language. This program is brought to the library by Poponta Children’s Cultural Society. Established in 2008 and based in San Mateo, Poponta is comprised of a group of volunteers dedicated to serving the Japanese-speaking community. Build your own mini altar to celebrate Day of the Dead! Local artist Elizabeth Jiménez Montelongo will guide you through the process, demonstrating each step. She will also share some information on the basic elements that are included, their meaning, and the Indigenous roots of the tradition. There is plenty of room for creative liberty in this project! Feel free to bring small decorative objects, natural objects, and/or a photo or focal item for the top. ¡Construye tu propio mini altar para celebrar el Día de Muertos! Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies provides students in grades K–5 with the opportunity to strengthen their reading skills by working one-on-one with a friendly reading coach. This program creates a positive and supportive reading experience for beginning and developing readers, helping children build confidence and fluency. Our reading coach listens as children read, offering encouragement and support in phonics, sight words, and comprehension. Students may bring a favorite book from home or select one from the library’s collection to read aloud. Reading sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The length of each session may be limited depending on the number of participating students and/or available volunteers. Free. NUMU Youth Still Life: Spooky Skeleton Figure Drawing (Ages 7-16)

Time: 4:00 PM | Location: Los Gatos Public Library - NUMU - 106 E. Main St

Meet us at the New Museum Los Gatos, where the staff will arrange a (fake decor) skeleton and a (decor) dog skeleton along with a few spooky objects from our collection for children ages 7-16 to sketch on black or gray paper with white drawing pencils.
