Parent-Child Classes with Santa Clara County Early Head Start

Parent-Child Classes (PCCs) are designed to foster positive Parent-Child relationship through interactive play. Parents and babies will engage in various activities that support whole child development. Early learning experiences include: Music and Movement Language & Literacy Parent-Child Activities PCCs aim to promote the parent’s role as their child’s first teacher, while also offer parents opportunities to connect with each other, share information, and learn from one another. Baby Bounce Storytime

Caregivers and babies (12 months old and younger) are invited to join us for an 8 week series of Baby centered storytimes. Baby bounce shares short stories, nursery rhymes, fingerplays and songs that reinforce early literacy skills. Our Baby Bounce and Lapsit is about 20 minutes followed by Stay & Play time. Caregivers are welcome to bring a blanket for their babies to lay on. This program is appropriate for infants and prewalking babies, ages 0-12 months. Friday Fun (Grab-and-Go): Diwali Crafts

Time: 4:00 PM | Location: Tully Library

Join us every Friday for a new craft activity. This week, we’ll celebrate Diwali by making Mandala tissue paper suncatchers and coloring wooden mandala designs. This will be a grab-and-go format. Customers can take kits of craft supplies home to make the lanterns. They will need to use their own supplies including scissors and markers or paints.Free. No registration required. For ages 6 and up. Staff might limit the number of craft kits per family to ensure more families can participate. Supplies are limited so priority will be given to children and teens who are present at the program. Introduction to Speech and Debate

Time: 4:00 PM | Location: West Valley Library - Community Room

Students in Grades 3-5 are invited to learn and practice the elements of speech and debate through hands-on activities. What is “speech and debate” and why do we do it? Elements such as tone of voice, body posture, hand gestures, and eye contact will be demonstrated and practiced, helping improve speeches and debates. The final session will include a mini debate tournament with some time for reflection and Q and A. This series is presented by teen volunteers with speech and debate/public speaking experience. Free. Limited to 16 students. Participants are expected to attend all sessions. Recommended for 3rd-5th grade students. Priority will be given to registrants followed by online waitlist, then walk-ins if there is space. If anyone registered or waitlisted does not show up by 4:05pm on the first day, their spot may be given to someone else for the series. If you are on the waitlist or a walk-in hoping to get a spot, please try to come a few minutes early on the first day to see if any open spots remain. Registrants will be checked-in first at the Community Room door and allowed until 4:05 to arrive. Friday Fun: Diyas for Diwali

Pearl Avenue will present a series of crafts, games, or fun activities each Friday afternoon, starting at 4 p.m. It will be a great way to start off your weekend!
