Tai Chi with Nelson Ng

Description Join us for a weekly Tai Chi session with Nelson Ng! In this weekly class, participants will learn the basic principles and the philosophy behind Tai Chi, gaining flexibility and a better sense of balance, through slow and gentle movement. Nelson started learning Chen’s Tai Chi in 1989 from Master Gene Chen, who was a disciple of Grandmaster of Feng ZhiQiang. Nelson has been teaching since 2014. This class is free and open to beginners as well as those who have previous Tai Chi experience. People of all ages are welcome. You must sign in upon arrival.

Join us for a free math program for Kindergarten to 3rd grade students to learn basic arithmetic. Including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division from one digit to four digit numbers. It is taught by trained high school students. The focus is to build confidence and love for math in young students. (Virtual) Chess Club

Are you interested in playing and learning chess? If so, sign up to attend this fun virtual Chess Club hosted by Seven Trees Branch Library! You will be paired up with other kids to play real chess games using virtual chess boards online. Our volunteers are also very knowledgeable and can teach you several strategies and tips, through fun activities and interactive games. The games will be played online using a safe platform. You are encouraged to sign up for a free account at lichess.org, so you can join our online club to play games with us! Chess Club takes place weekly, and you are free to play every week, or drop in and out if you like. You only need to register once and you’ll be added to our roster. Age: 5-12 years old (Elementary to Middle School). Date: Every Sunday from 1:00pm - 2:30pm. Registration: Please register on this page to attend the weekly sessions (an email address is required). The Zoom link and password will be emailed before class each week. Software: No software is required to download, but you must have a computer with Internet and a web browser to access the lichess.org website. This program will be held online via Zoom. 3D Design & Printing

Children ages 8-12 are invited to the West Valley Branch Library to learn 3D design using Tinkercad! Participants will have the opportunity to use Tinkercad to create a project that will be printed out later to be picked up at the library. No experience necessary. Recommended for children ages 8-12. Younger children may attend but will need to be accompanied by an adult to assist them with their design. Space is limited - tickets will be available at the desk 30 minutes before the program begins. One ticket per participant, helpers/spectators do not need a ticket. ADA Accommodation Requests
Math Club

Improve your math skills and apply them through fun math-related activities! Participants will focus on a variety of math concepts and do hands-on math activities in this weekly drop-in program. For children in grades 3-5 only. Registration not required. Instruction on the week’s concept will occur during the first 15-20 minutes, so please arrive on time. This program meets in person during the school year. We may cancel some meetings due to school/holiday breaks or volunteer unavailability. ADA Accommodation Requests
Sew Easy! Hand Sewing Workshop
Time: 1:30 PM | Location: King Library Library - Children’s Exploration Room, Mezzanine
This program is for children ages 7-12. Registration is recommended, walk-ins accepted if the program is not full.Learn just how easy sewing can be with Sew Easy! This volunteer-led program will guide children through creating their very own hand-sewn project. Get creative and hone fine motor skills with a needle and thread. For this session, we will sew our own felt key rings! We will learn different stitching types, practice technique, and complete our own sewing project to take home. Materials provided. Registration is required, and we prefer you include an email address when you register. Claymation Film Workshops for Ages 4-14

Discover the art of filmmaking through this fun and interactive Claymation workshop designed for youth ages 4–14. Led by industry experts, participants will gain hands-on experience in character development, storytelling, and stop-motion animation—all while exploring the creative process from a filmmaker’s perspective. This two-part workshop series includes: Workshop 1: Students will design their own character, including visual details and a back-storyWorkshop 2: Students will learn to animate their character and create a short Claymation film 🎥 Completed films will be showcased at the Youth and Student Film segment of the upcoming Poppy Jasper International Film Festival, providing participants with the exciting opportunity to see their work on the big screen. 📌 Created by PJIFF Director L. Mattock “Mattie” Scariot, the Youth Film Program empowers local youth to tell their own stories and discover future possibilities in the filmmaking world. Using family photos, original Kiowa art, and Winter Count calendars, Mattie shares how storytelling shaped her own journey as a filmmaker and author. 📚 Past workshops have attracted children and adults alike, with engaging discussions on cultural storytelling, identity, and creative craft. Each session fosters discovery, skill-building, and recognition for young creators. 🌍 The Festival takes place every April across Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Hollister, and San Juan Bautista, and draws more than 3,000 attendees from around the Bay Area and around the globe.
